I realized how wrong my breathing was during the belly roll classes in which I could not push the air inside my belly in order to do the undulation. I had to rethink my concept of inhaling and exhaling by paying attention to the diaphragm. Do you know how it works?
The diaphragm is a kind of membrane located between the thorax and the abdomen. When we inhale it contracts enlarging the thoracic cavity and consequently, our belly moves foward. When we exhale the diaphragm releases and the belly moves back in. We are born breathing this way, but as we grow older we set aside such natural ability and start breathing through our chest. That's way many of us feel exhausted during physical activities.
On the other hand, diaphragmatic breathing improves the flow of blood giving us more energy. The brain works more effectively and as a result, we think better which means problems and any other challenging situation in life can be dealt with serenity.

Taking these benefits into account, try this exercise:
- choose a relaxing music and a calm place;
- place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly and feel its movement;
- As it moves foward repeat to yourself: "breathing in";
- As it gets empy, say: "breathing out";
You will notice that breathing is much more than a physiological process. It can be your ritual. Think about it!!
See you,
